came across this soetime ago,it made me think how much we are controlled by not always honest people.

Nanna Do all fairy tales start with "Once upon a time"?
No darling some begin "I promise when I'm reelected"

I'm dreading the next four or five months but if we treat it all as a fairy tale it want be too unbearable.

Exactly one year later, and after surviving the elections that were so dreaded we are already hearing talk of people coming forward for the shambles two years down the road.

I'm not sure that my belief in fairies will carry me through this.

Pete C, I hadn't read where you lived. Your elections were a walk in the park compared with the US way of doing things.

I couldn't agree more Derek ... I always feel that US elections have a lot more in common with "capitalism" than "democracy". Why they take a year or more to move from electing two people down to one always escapes me.

My concern is that the UK is moving the same way (whichever party floats your boat). For example which of our current party leaders - any of them - actually have experience of working in the real world. All seem to be ex-uni graduates who went straight into politics in one form or another. No connection with real human aspirations and needs.

Yes, Dave, "power to the people" has a hollow ring these days, too. Derek
